Message from the President
Dear Penn State Alumni and friends,
Thank you sincerely for your interest in the New York City chapter of the Penn State African American Alumni Organization. It is an honor to be selected to serve as president of The Flagship Chapter.
As you've noticed, we have no shortage or pride for our school. We hail from different campuses, graduated with different classes, have obtained different degrees, and work in different professional fields. That's the diversity we thrive on. That's the beauty of our community. Yet and still, We Are Penn State.
The moment I stepped foot on campus as a transfer student, I felt small. I could walk around for hours without seeing a familiar face. I could go to class and not see anyone who looked like me. As with any new environment, it took some getting used to, but it was only a matter of time before I discovered extracurricular activities and student life. There is where I found the Black community. There is where I no longer felt small. From the Caribbean Student Association to Black Caucus to the NAACP, I quickly found a home at Penn State.
As we get to know each other, you'll see how different we are, but you'll also see how much we have in common. And you'll see that we can harness both our diversity and our similarities as long as we stick together.
Not only do we throw football watch parties and happy hours, but we have professional development workshops, social issue discussions, and we're on track to do more community service than any other alumni chapter in the country.
So I encourage you and I implore you to become a member of our chapter today.

- Free or discounted programs and events: we'll always offer you free or discounted entry to any event or program we organize.
These benefits are for members ONLY. The membership status of each person will be verified before the agreed upon benefit is provided.
Membership dues are $25 for 1-year!
Dues can be paid via PayPal* ([email protected]) or Venmo (@aaao-nyc). When you send your payment, type your full name, email address, and "Dues" in the note section. We'll follow up with you with next steps.
*If you use PayPal, use the friend/family option AND link your PayPal account directly to your bank account. Otherwise, you'll be charged a processing fee.
